Maybe he needs to come here and have that be his legacy before he takes another job. Hours after the recall was made public, Gov. Gavin Newsom began raising money for the recall in the afternoon, and all Democrats in the state, including the lieutenant governor, attorney general, speaker of the Assembly, and senators, spoke to the cause. There is also, coincidentally, a state bill currently moving through Congress that could have a major impact on future recalls of California governors. What's the latest on that? Right? And even a possibility. Riley, this potential recall is now state law, and as we saw in 2021, candidates can jump in for governor and put their name in the ring if the recall effort is on the ballot. I can. Now, if voters decide to recall the governor, the candidate who receives a plurality of votes becomes governor. The new proposal, called Senate Amendment 7, would change that by allowing the lieutenant governor to serve the remainder of a recalled governor's term. The proposal is in the legislative process and, if approved, could go to voters in November. For now, it would be great if this recall effort against Governor Newsom makes it to the November ballot. The law does not apply. However, if the group takes more time to gather signatures and the recall continues beyond November, the proposal could apply. All of this comes on top of an already very busy election year, with November ballots already filling up. Some say this is already a long-term commitment, just because it's going to be a huge undertaking. Yeah. And it's going to be a busy time for you and all the people working on it, um, I know we were talking about this. One more thing to add to your plate: It's election season in California.
