Led by three consecutive champions and one new event champion, the 12th ranked Hope University women's swimming and diving team is also looking to win back-to-back team titles.
The Flying Dutch performed well again on the third day of league play Friday at the Holland Aquatic Center, one day away from winning their third straight MIAA title.
Hope extended its lead in the six-team standings heading into the final day on Saturday, Feb. 24, with a total of 751.5 points.
The Flying Dutch are in second place with a 128-point lead over 15th place Calvin College. Albion College (329) was his third, followed by Kalamazoo College (283), Alma College (266) and Olivet College (137).
On the fourth day, qualifying starts at 10am and ends with the finals at 5pm.
On Friday, three Hope swimmers were MIAA champions again: Juniors. sarah kraus (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford HS) Lauren Lyle (Grand Rapids, Michigan/Catholic Central) and 2nd grade. ashley swingewood (Carmel, Indiana/Carmel).

“They've been in this situation before, and what's really exciting now is that we're getting great leadership from the way they've led,” Taber said. Told. “They're in the water together. Even though they're in different events, they challenge each other. They know what they're capable of. They know what to expect in this match. I’m open to opportunities.”
In the 100-yard backstroke, Kraus won his third straight title with a time of 56.20 seconds.
Kraus led the Flying Dutch in a 1-2-3-4 finish. 2nd grade katie herman (Canton, Michigan/Mercy) was runner-up with a score of 56.94.new student emma hartman (Mason, Ohio/Mason) placed third with a score of 58.18.new student paige potter (Lake Orion, Michigan/Lake Orion) tied for fourth with a score of 58.46.
In the 100-meter breaststroke, Lyle set a school record time of 1:03.09, earning her second league championship in that event. Lyle beat Emma Schaefer's 2021 time of 1:03.75.
Three teammates faced Lyle in the “A” final.new student Anna Stoll (Hamilton Southeastern, Fishers, Ind.) placed third with a time of 1:04.33.new student dillon horsley (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) finished fifth with a time of 1:04.97. 2nd grade vera turner (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) was 6th with a time of 1:06.13.
In the 400-meter individual medley, Swingewood took first place in the 400IM with a swim of 4:32.89.
Three teammates joined Swingewood in the 'A' final.junior grace wesley (Gross Pointe Shores, Mich./Gross Pointe North) took third place with a time of 4:35.37. Potter placed fourth with a time of 4:37.21.Senior jess estabrook (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) was seventh with a time of 4:45.25.
In the 100 butterfly, Guidry (Franklin, Mich./Mercy) won her first title with a swim of 55.08 seconds.
Flying Dutch also took second place in the 200-meter medley relay.
Klaus, Lyle, Guidry, Senpai Delaney Wesolek (Bay City, Mich./John Glenn) swam 1:42.03.
2nd grade 200 freestyle Laurel Wasiniak (Northville, Mich./Northville) posted a third-place time of 1:52.20. Martin finished fourth with a time of 1:55.53. Wesolek was fifth with a time of 1:56.12.
