Babson Park, Massachusetts —Babson College Men's Ice Hockey Junior Brendan Murphy (Arlington, Mass.) was named the Dan Gaherin Scholar-Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
Murphy has appeared in four games on the blue line this season, recording one assist and one point, with a +1 rating. On January 5 against New England College, he assisted on the first of three goals in the third period in a 4-0 win. On January 6 against ninth-ranked Norwich, he blocked a season-high two shots in a 4-1 loss.
Murphy, who was part of the Beavers' 2022 NEHC Championship team, has played in 23 games over the past three seasons and was also named to the NEHC Academic All-Conference team last winter.
Murphy and his Babson teammates enter the final weekend of the regular season with a 12-9 record overall and 10-5-1 draw in conference play. The Beavers host Norwich on Friday at 7 p.m. and New England College on Saturday at 4 p.m.
