University Park, Pennsylvania โ The Penn State Nittany Lions lost to No. 6 Wisconsin, 6-0, in a Big Ten Conference game Friday night inside Pegula Ice Arena.
With this loss, the Nittany Lions fall to 13-15-3 on the year and 5-13-3, 0-2 in conference play, while the Badgers fall to 23-8-2 overall and 14-6-1 overall. It was a minute and a loss. -2-1 in Big Ten play.
how did it happen
- William Whitelaw gathered the puck in the slot and fired a shot past the glove of the Nittany Lion's senior netminder, giving the Badgers the lead on a run-of-play goal. Liam Soulier (Brampton, Ontario) 1-0 at 6:11 of the first period.
- Wisconsin doubled its lead with a power-play score midway through the opening frame, and at the 10:18 mark, Cruz Lucius converted Ben Dexheimer's cross-ice feed just inside the near post to make it 2-0.
- The visitors added two more points in the first half of the half, increasing their lead to 4-0 when Mathieu de Saint Phalle lit the lamp from the left circle at 5:02. Lucius then scored his second man-advantage point of the game. Around 8:35.
- De Saint Phalle scored his second goal of the game at 6:19 of the third period, extending the lead to 5-0.
- At 8:54 of the final frame, Carson Bantle hit Soulier's glove from the low slot for a 6-0 margin, and the Badgers kept chasing.

- Souliere made 24 saves in the first 55 minutes, 53 seconds of the game and fell to 10-11-1 on the year before the sophomore relieved him. Noah Grannan (Germantown, Wis.) stopped the only shot he faced in the final 4 minutes, 7 seconds.
- Badgers netminder Kyle McClellan stopped all 27 shots he faced, earning his seventh shutout of the season and improving to 21-8-1 on the year.

- Wisconsin held a 31-27 advantage in shots on goal while making 2 of 6 on the power play. Penn State had the man advantage and went 0-for-4.
- This season, the Nittany Lions are 0-7-0.
- It was Penn State's fourth shutout of the season, tying the most in a single season since the 2019-20 season when they were shut out four times.
