Manager Mauricio Pochettino wants referee Chris Kavanagh to be fair to both teams when Chelsea play Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.
Pochettino is still reeling from the decision in last month's 4-1 Premier League defeat to Chelsea at Anfield. Chelsea's head coach believes Conor Gallagher and Christopher Nkunku should have been awarded penalties after they were fouled by Virgil van Dijk, but Paul Tierney ignored their claims.
The game was Liverpool's first home game in the Premier League since Klopp announced he would leave Anfield at the end of the season. Much of the preparation for Sunday's game has centered around the fact that this could be Klopp's last chance to win a domestic cup final in England.
Pochettino has great respect for Klopp and Liverpool but does not want complaints to be lodged like last month.
He said: “I think what we have to be sure of is that we compete and are fair in every decision. I think there were too many decisions when we played against Liverpool at Liverpool… No decision was important to us. No two penalties were awarded. Duels are always 50-50 in different colors. Always red. We want to be treated fairly. .
“Of course we will celebrate[Klopp's Liverpool career when he leaves]. I will be the first to say that Liverpool are great and Klopp is one of the best coaches in the world.”
“But I think what I want at Wembley, based on my last experience playing at Wembley, is to go to Wembley where no one feels pressured. We play at the same level and the strongest person To win, to not feel the pressure of the people around you, you know what I mean?
“That's good. Liverpool is a great club. I love Klopp and the way he is is great. But of course this is his last season here, competing equally in both teams, We need to give and see something for both clubs in the same way.”
