LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – It's state high school basketball season and businesses and hotels across the Haymarket are gearing up for two busy weekends hosting people from all over the state.
The Nebraska High School Girls State Basketball Tournament opens Wednesday at Pinnacle Bank Arena and the Bob Devaney Center, but this whirlwind two-weekend will not only impact those arenas, but downtown as a whole.
Restaurants, hotels and other businesses are excited to welcome basketball teams and fans from all corners of Nebraska.
These tournaments are among the largest high school events that Lincoln University sees each year, and there is no better location than the Haymarket.
“We really enjoy welcoming people from out of town who have never been here before. We want to know where the restaurants are and what the area is like,” said Brooke Seacrest, general manager of Hyatt Place Lincoln. Told. “They love the Haymarket District because everything you want in this area is two blocks away. It's a really good area to have it in.”
The fun doesn't stop on Sunday, with the men's tournament starting next Wednesday at both the PBA and Devaney Center, with companies willing to spread the energy of both tournaments over two weekends.
