Archbishop Mitty soccer player Jackson Bettencourt has been named Bay Area News Group's Male Athlete of the Week for February 19-24.
In the online voting, which ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Bettencourt received 37.07% of the vote, ahead of Dougherty Valley basketball player Kenny Cloud in second place with 35.29%.

Bettencourt, a third-year player, gave Mitty all the points it needed in the 61st minute when he took a corner kick pass from Manuel Portillo and fired a shot past the goalie. Mitty defeated St. Francis 2-0 in the Central Coast Section Division I championship.
