A man was hit by a giant vehicle at a monster truck event, causing the crowd to scream and flee.
A 56-year-old man remained hospitalized after an incident at an event in Marion County, Ohio, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
The unidentified man was injured during the Monster Truck Wars event at the fairgrounds Saturday (February 24) just after 8 p.m.
The man, who was working as a member of the safety staff that night, was rushed to Marion General Hospital by paramedics from the Marion Fire Department.
However, the sheriff's office says the man was later transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus due to the severity of his injuries.
This incident is still under investigation at this stage.
Unfortunately, many people had to witness the horrific incident as it happened during a busy event.
Jessica Hemminger was having fun with her two sons at a Monster Truck Wars event when one of the trucks backed up and hit the crew.
“It was awful, it was horrible, and I'll never forget it,” she told ABC. “My first instinct was to cover the child's eyes and get him out of there as quickly as possible because I didn't want them to see it.
“It was terrifying. I still replay it in my head. I don't think I'll ever get it out of my head.”
The outlet spoke to Jax and other terrified participants that night.
“The next thing we knew, he was starting to get run over. And as soon as that happened, all the parents there grabbed the child's eyes and covered them,” they said.
“The sound of monster trucks turned into everyone screaming and crying.”
Like the other attendees, Jax enjoyed the show and even recorded some of it for his memories.
However, Jax was also filming at the time of the incident.
“Once the accident happened, there was a dramatic change,” Jacks said. “It turned into screams and people tried to leave. They automatically called for evacuation.”
“Everyone was definitely traumatized and it showed on their faces. They were crying. [they] I didn't know what to say or do. They just looked in the opposite direction. ”
Jax concluded, “I hope they can improve the situation with monster truck events. Maybe they can move the event outside or make the arena a little bigger.”
