three star
First star: Kate Nicolai, Pingree
It took a great performance from Nikolai for Pingree to overcome the upset, but she overcame it. She allowed just one goal against Morristown Beard, but had a perfect performance until 31:39 of the game, holding her team long until Alexis Glassofer's overtime heroics on the other team. I let it lead. Nikolai had the best performance of his career with 32 saves.
Second star: Dean Toscos, Don Bosco Prep.
There was some question whether Toscos, who missed Monday's quarterfinal game with the flu, would suit up. He was ready to go, and Don Bosco Prep was grateful for that. He helped turn the tide of the game in the second period when his team was trailing, and in the third he had a great assist on Matthew Spungin's go-ahead goal, leading Don Bosco Prep to a 2-1 victory in the state final. contributed to the expansion. Defeat the Christian Brothers.
Third Star: Kalib Capech, St. Augustine
Capech provided a number of key plays en route to St. Augustine's 4-2 victory over Delbarton in the closed semifinals. Perhaps the biggest goal was his goal late in the final period that gave the Hermits a 3-1 lead and was the game-winner. Capech logged a lot of tough minutes against Delbarton's top line and kept Delbarton's top line in check for the most part with even play.
