The Penn State women's hockey team released its 34-game schedule for the 2024-25 season on Friday morning.
Coming off their second consecutive AHA Tournament title, the Nittany Lions will face a tough non-conference schedule against six teams that appeared in last season's NCAA Tournament, including rematches on the road against Cornell and Connecticut.
Penn State will compete in three regular season tournaments this season, beginning with the Icebreaker Tournament in Columbus, Ohio, where they will play against Penn State, Ohio State, Stonehill College and Cornell, beginning with a match against Cornell on Friday, October 25th.
The two winners of the opening round will battle it out for the championship on Saturday, Oct. 26, following a consolation match between the losing teams played earlier in the day. All games will be played at the OhioHealth Ice House in downtown Columbus, the training home of the National Hockey League's Columbus Blue Jackets.
Penn State will also compete in the annual Smashville tournament held at Ford Ice Center, owned by the NHL's Nashville Predators. The Nittany Lions will face Merrimack in the first round of the tournament on Friday, Nov. 29, followed by the winner or loser of the game between Clarkson and St. Thomas on Saturday, Nov. 30.
The regular season finale begins on Friday, Jan. 3, with a matchup against Bemidji State in the annual East-West Showcase at Ritter Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Nittany Lions will close out the road the following day against the host Gophers.
Penn State will play 20 games against Atlantic Hockey America rivals Robert Morris, Mercyhurst, RIT, Syracuse and Lindenwood, including 12 straight games, to close out the regular season.
The 2025 AHA postseason will kick off with the best-of-one quarterfinals beginning Saturday, February 22. Following the quarterfinals between No. 6 and No. 3 and No. 5 and No. 4, the AHA semifinals will take place from February 28 to March 2. The semifinals will pit the lowest remaining seed against the tournament's No. 1 seed and the second-lowest remaining seed against the No. 2 seed.
