ORONO, Maine — The University of Maine women's ice hockey team has announced its schedule for the 2024-25 season. The 35-game season will include one exhibition game, 27 Hockey East Conference games and four non-conference opponents. University of Maine will play each Hockey East opponent three times during the regular season.
Maine finished last season with a 15-18-2 record overall and 11-14-2 record in the conference. The 2024-25 season will open with an exhibition game against the University of New Hampshire on Sept. 22.
The Black Bears will open the regular season with four home games at Alfond Arena, beginning with their home opening weekend against the nationally ranked Quinnipiac Bobcats on Sept. 27 and 28. The following weekend, the Black Bears will host Providence College on Oct. 11 and 12 in their Hockey East Conference opener.
Maine next goes on the road for the second straight week, starting with a two-game series against Boston University followed by a trip to New York to take on the nationally ranked Colgate Raiders.
Maine returns home for a conference series against Vermont on Nov. 1-2 before hosting Boston College on Nov. 8-9 for another home weekend.
Hockey East Conference play continues as the team travels to Northeastern University on Nov. 15 and 16. The following weekend, the team will travel to Vermont on Nov. 24 for one game.
Over Thanksgiving weekend, Maine will host seven-time national champion Wisconsin for two games at Alfond Arena for the first time since 2003. Molly Engstrom Played in Wisconsin.
The Black Bears will continue their heavy home training with one game at home against Boston College on Dec. 6, followed by one against the University of Connecticut on Dec. 7, before wrapping up the first semester by hosting Merrimack College at Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, Maine.
Upon returning from winter break, Maine will travel to the border for a game against the University of New Hampshire on January 3. The team will travel to Boston on Sunday, January 5 to take on Boston University.
In the first home series of the new year, Maine will host Harvard for the first time since 2018 on Jan. 10 and 11. The series will conclude the regular season non-conference play.
The team will next visit the University of Connecticut on Jan. 17 and 18 for two games against the Huskies.
Maine returns home to host UNH on Jan. 24 and 25 for a cross-border battle with the Wildcats.
Continuing with conference play, Maine will play an away game against Providence College on Jan. 31, followed by a match against College of the Holy Cross on Feb. 1.
Maine will play one game at home on Feb. 7 against the Northeastern University Huskies.
The team's final regular season trip will be on Feb. 14 and 15 when it will take on the Merrimack Warriors in North Andover, Massachusetts.
The final series of the regular season will be played at home, with the Black Bears hosting Holy Cross for a two-game series on Feb. 21 and 22.
The opening round of the Hockey East tournament will begin on Feb. 28, with the final scheduled for March 9 or 10, depending on where it is held.
