Tiffany Morton has been named the new head coach of the University of West Alabama women's basketball program, announced Saturday by Interim Director of Athletics Brett Gilliland. She will be the 12th head coach in program history and her start date is May 1.

Morton spent the 2024 season at the University of Wisconsin, where she served as an assistant women's basketball coach. The program enjoyed great success during her tenure on staff, including winning 15 games and advancing to the quarterfinals of the Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT), which ranks second in program history.
While at the University of Wisconsin, she coached three players to postseason honors, including a first-team and All-Defensive Big Ten selection in Serra Williams, and was named the league's Defensive Player of the Year. It was.
Prior to her time at Madison, she spent the 2022 season as an assistant coach at Rice University, where she worked with post players as part of Conference USA's top recruiting class.
She also served as an assistant at Georgia State University, Mercer University, Wagner College, LSU, and the University of Montevallo. During her time at Mercer, she participated in the development of three-time Southern Conference Player of the Year Karliah Lawrence, who was selected by the Minnesota Lynx with the 24th pick of the 2018 WNBA Draft.
She began her coaching career at her alma mater, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where she spent three years with the Warhawks women's basketball team. During the 2008 campaign, she was a member of the Final Four at her NCAA Division III Championships and ranked third in the nation with 29 wins. She averaged 14.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per game and was named to the fourth All-American team by D3hoops.com.

Morton graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in psychology and a minor in coaching. She also earned her Master of Science and Education degree with an emphasis on professional development at the University of California, Whitewater in 2012. She has one son named Micah.
