Schenectady, New York – Head Coach Josh Shiba The Union University women's hockey team released its schedule for the 2024-25 season Thursday afternoon.
“The 2024-2025 season will be our last season playing for the Messarink, so we are excited to make some unforgettable memories this year,” Siva said. “A highly competitive non-conference schedule will prepare us for a tough league schedule where we will face nationally ranked opponents every weekend. Every game matters, and we believe this schedule will help prepare our group for postseason competition.”
The Union's schedule consists of seven non-conference opponents and 11 members of ECAC hockey.
The Garnet Chargers will open the 2024-25 season with two games at Robert Morris, taking on the Colonials for the first time since 2019 on a trip to Pittsburgh.
Union returns home the following weekend to begin a four-game homestand that begins with its home opener against RIT on Oct. 4. The Garnet Chargers will host Penn State, a team that finished 13th last season.Number The survey was conducted by USCHO.com on Oct. 11-12.
The Union heads east to Durham for a two-game series against New Hampshire starting Oct. 18.
The Garnet Chargers will play their lone game against Vermont on Nov. 20 in Burlington, Vt., before welcoming St. Cloud State to Schenectady for the first time in program history over Thanksgiving weekend. Union will conclude non-conference play on Jan. 25 with the annual Mayor's Cup match against Rensselaer at MVP Arena.
Seven of Union's ECAC hockey opponents were nationally ranked in the USCHO.com poll.
The Garnet Chargers open ECAC hockey play on Oct. 25 at home against Harvard.
Union will begin a five-game conference road trip in November, starting with a match against Cornell on Nov. 1. The Garnet Chargers will travel to the North Country to take on Clarkson and St. Lawrence on Nov. 8 and 9 before taking the weekend off for final exams. Union will open its 2024-25 season against Capital District rival Rensselaer on Nov. 26 at Houston Fieldhouse.
The team wearing the garnet and white will begin the 2025 calendar year with four consecutive home games against ECAC hockey rivals, with Quinnipiac University and Princeton University visiting Schenectady, starting with a matchup against the Bobcats on Jan. 3.
St. Lawrence University and Clarkson University visit the following weekend to close out the home slate, and the Union will visit Dartmouth College and Harvard University for the first time in 2025 on Jan. 17 and 18.
Union will host the Engineers on Jan. 24 in the second meeting between the rivals this season.
The Garnet Chargers will travel to Brown University to close out January before opening the final month of the regular season at Yale University on February 1st.
The final home series of the regular season sees Colgate and Cornell visit the Messa Rink for Senior Weekend on Feb. 7 and 8. Union will close out its conference schedule by traveling to Princeton and Quinnipiac on Feb. 14 and 15 before turning its attention to the ECAC Hockey Tournament.
