Stony Brook, New York โ Stony Brook Women's Basketball Head Coach Joy McCorvey She added another member to her staff, naming Sierra Bastian as the Seawolves' director of women's basketball operations. Bastian joined Stony Brook's staff after stints at the College of William & Mary, Colby College, Rider University and New York Liberty.
A native of Maplewood, New Jersey, Bastian joins Stony Brook University after serving as Executive Assistant at Stony Brook University. Keia Clarke has been CEO of New York Liberty since July 2022. At Liberty, Bastian was responsible for travel logistics, managing and setting up meetings for New York Liberty's dedicated staff, running team projects, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and other leadership responsibilities for the organization.

Bastien is no stranger to the CAA, having previously served as the Director of Basketball Operations at the College of William & Mary during the 2021-22 season. During her tenure with the team, Bastien managed the team's operating budget and was responsible for the team's travel arrangements, scheduling academic meetings and study time, hiring and overseeing student team managers, on-campus recruiting efforts and other administrative duties. She led the team to a No. 7 seed in the CAA Tournament, ultimately losing to Delaware in the CAA Quarterfinals. She also helped Sydney Wagner earn Second Team All-CAA honors.
Prior to joining the College of William & Mary, Bastien spent the 2020-21 season as the associate head coach at Colby College in Maine. Before the season was cut short due to COVID-19, Bastien led the team to a 3-3 record with wins over the University of Southern Maine and Bates College. During his time with the Mules, Bastien managed the game plan, conducted individual skills sessions with various players and also worked with recruiting needs and overall player development.
Bastian, a Rider University graduate, returned to her alma mater in August 2017 as Director of Basketball Operations after serving as a student manager during her time at the university. During her time at Rider, Bastian helped organize the team's travel arrangements, develop travel itineraries, manage the team's budget, recruit and supervise student managers, oversee on-campus recruiting efforts, and facilitate all elite collegiate-level camps. She contributed to the Broncos' 2019-2020 regular season title and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship. During the 2018-2019 season at Rider, the Broncos earned an automatic berth in the league's WNIT, the second time in program history and the second time in three years the team had qualified for the WNIT.
Prior to joining the Rider girls basketball staff in the summer of 2017, she served as the Hoop Groupโs recruiting coordinator. During her tenure, Bastian recruited potential players to participate in the camp program, communicated with parents, campers and camp staff, completed camp purchasing transactions through the organizationโs database, updated and compiled the Hoop Groupโs online database and coordinated direct mailings of camp information packets.
Bastian graduated from Rider University in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Sport Management. During her undergraduate years with the Broncos, she served as the head manager of the women's basketball team, where she oversaw the day-to-day operations of the other managers, created schedules for the manager and assistant coaches, recorded player statistics for each game, created field shooting charts, filmed, produced and uploaded DVD recordings of team, practices and games, was in charge of equipment for the away game team, assisted in producing scouts for opposing teams, and reviewed and analyzed film of practices and games.
