Western Michigan volleyball had a historic run last season. The team lost only two games to the Mid-Americans, went undefeated in their conference, also won the MAC Championship, and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
WMU did all of this with a roster of seven seniors. The team will lose its 2023 kill leaders in Maggie King and rotation player Mairead Boyle, who signed with the Omaha Supernovas of the Professional Volleyball Federation, but will also lose its kill leaders in 2023, Logan Case, Andeline Simkins, Anna Colcagno, Kiona Salesman Abi Wilcoxson will remain.
Logan Case became the all-time assist leader in program history last season. She also received several awards. Most notably, she was named Academic All-American Team Member of the Year. Only three athletes in WMU history have been voted for this award. She, along with Simkins, was also named an All-American by VolleyballMag.com.
In keeping with the theme of sustainment, the Broncos will continue to maintain the ethos behind the operation next year and for years to come. Head coach Colleen Munson has signed a five-year contract to remain with the Broncos. The 2024 campaign will be her 20th year.th He enters his season as the head coach of WMU volleyball.
WMU will also welcome five freshmen for the 2024 season. The group includes outside hitters Elana Erickson, Camille Morrison and Annalize Patchett, setter Leah Richmond and libero Carly Piercefield.
The MAC schedule for the 2024 season has been announced. The Broncos' first MAC opponent will be Buffalo, with the game scheduled for September 27th at University Arena.
