The AAU summer season has officially begun, and so has the live recruiting period for college basketball coaches across the country.
Kentucky Wildcats personnel will be spread out across the country this weekend, but the main focus will be on the Nike EYBL circuit in Indianapolis.
While many top targets play in Indy, there is one player who is starting to become a very popular name among the UK fan base. That person is none other than five-star forward Will Riley.
Riley, who played for UPlay, entered Friday night's game against Team Durant and had an incredible 42 points on 15/16 shooting from the field and 5/5 from deep. Add in a perfect night from the free-throw line and five assists, and you can see why Riley is starting to soar up the recruiting rankings.
Mark Pope and his staff are actively recruiting Riley for the 2025 class and hope to have Riley visit in the near future. Apparently the Cats are also at the top of his list.
Following Friday night's win, Riley spoke with KSR's Zach Geoghegan and had this to say about Kentucky in recruiting:
“(Kentucky) is just saying they like the way I play, they like the way I've improved, playing at pace, playing positionless. They're recruiting me. That's a good thing. They haven't recruited me very much, but they've been very supportive.”
There have been some reclass rumors surrounding Riley and his recruitment, but the Cats appear to be in a good position no matter when he decides to attend college.
High school recruiting seemed to be a question mark when it came to Mark Pope, but with a solid recruiting staff and now the Kentucky brand alongside his name, the Cats still have the best player in the class. It seems like they are aiming for .
Riley is currently considered a five-star player in the 2025 class and the No. 16 overall player in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
