After Charles Leclerc won in Monaco from pole position, former F1 driver Giedo van der Garde praised the impact new team manager Frédéric Vasseur is already having at the legendary Maranello-based team.
He has been strategic in bringing in different talent, such as Leclerc's new engineer.
“Right away he won,” he told Viaplay.
He has put together the right people in his team and brought in Adrian Newey.
The Dutchman added.
Indeed, it has been clear for the past few weeks that Ferrari had successfully managed to attract Newey, arguably the most famous and respected F1 designer of all time, but the news is not yet official.
However, in the latest development, Michael Schmidt, the highly respected F1 editor of German magazine Auto Motor und Sport, claims that Ferrari are in fact no longer interested in signing Newey.
Schmidt now claims Mercedes has once again emerged in the running to sign Newey, with Williams, McLaren and Aston Martin also remaining possible destinations for the 65-year-old British driver.
But former F1 driver David Coulthard believes retirement could still be an option for Newey, who is gradually winding down his involvement with Red Bull before leaving for good early next year.
Obviously, if he is looking back at the contract he signed a year or so ago and deciding he doesn't want to be in it long-term, it must be coming from a place of doubt and dissatisfaction.
Coulthard said this on his podcast, Formula For Success.
“Sometimes we chase the next opportunity, thinking it will bring us happiness, only to end up regretting it.
If I were 65 and had more money than time, I know what I'd do: I'd get on that boat faster than it would take me to pack a Speedo.
