The college football transfer portal has closed as we enter the summer preseason period, and most of the thousands of players who have benefited from it have already found their schools, made rosters and are vying for attention in the depths of the ranks.
With modern football's emphasis on using speedsters who can spread the offense and get behind the defense to gain tons of yards, the wide receiver position remains one of the most important positions on the football field.

Let's take a look at the top 10 wide receivers listed in the college football transfer portal and where they will be playing when the 2024 season kicks off this fall.
A year ago at Liberty University, the former two-star freshman rushed for just over 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns, emerging as one of college football's unsung big-play wide receivers, and now he's joining an offense led by quarterback Garrett Nussmeyer, one of the 10 best passers in the game.
Dave Doeren revamped the offensive skill rotation this offseason, led by a former Ohio State pass-catcher, and while Rodgers only played in four games last year, he is expected to be one of Grayson McCall's top targets as the offensive line looks to strengthen with the ACC title race becoming more heated.
Making his SEC debut this season, the Longhorns have been aggressive at the wide receiver position and the former Houston target was a key acquisition: He's scored 13 times over the past two seasons and could be a difference maker in the return game as well.
The Vanderbilt product should see significant playing time in a Bulldogs offense that lost Ladd McConkey and Brock Bowers and needs more consistent targets downfield for Carson Beck. Humphries recorded 20 yards per grab last year for the Commodores.
Young quarterback Jackson Arnold needs a reliable player downfield, and the former Purdue wide receiver fits the bill, boasting reliable deep play ability and setting career highs in catches, yards and touchdowns last season.
The Hurricanes, one of college football's most improved teams through the transfer portal, have added key talent at key positions, including former Houston wide receiver Brown, who had 62 catches for 815 yards and three scores last year and should be the primary receptacle for new quarterback Cam Ward.
Another key acquisition in Georgia's effort to get quality targets for Beck, the former University of Miami wide receiver set career highs in receptions and receiving yards last year and recorded 10 touchdowns in his two collegiate seasons.
Wells, a former University of South Carolina wide receiver, missed most of last season with an injury but is expected to return to form this fall. His best performance came two years ago as a sophomore against James Madison University, when he rushed for 1,250 yards and 15 scores. Now he's paired with Jackson Dart as part of a Rebels offense that could compete for a championship in the expansion playoffs.
Alabama fans will forever remember Bonds' catch in the far corner of the end zone on a 31-yard play on fourth down that sealed the Iron Bowl win over Auburn, but he was also the first player to transfer from Alabama after Nick Saban's retirement, a major gain for the Longhorns before he moved to the SEC and gave Quinn Ewers an elite downfield target.
Stewart, a former five-star prospect who was part of Texas A&M's legendary 2022 freshman class, is expected to get prominent snaps in a Ducks offense that seems like a good fit for his skill set as he pairs with veteran transfer quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who is headed to the Big Ten.
