NEW DELHI: Despite losing the toss in most of the IPL matches, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) continue to excel when it matters the most, says Sunday's win to move them up the points table. said captain Shreyas Iyer after coming out on top.
In the match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Iyer dropped the toss for the eighth time in 11 matches, but that did not hamper KKR's performance. After being brought into bat by LSG, KKR posted an impressive score of 235 for 6.
Their batting ability was complemented by strong bowling, restricting the hosts to just 137 runs and securing another important win heading into the play-offs.
“For the last six games, there has been chaos in the dressing room. Team-mates have come in and asked us what's going on, skip,” Iyer said at the post-match presentation in Lucknow. Even though we lost, we won the game, and that's what's important.”
“We got off to a great start on the power play. The combination of left-handed and right-handed makes it difficult for opponents. The important thing is freedom, going out and expressing yourself.”
“We want to stay positive no matter the situation. Sometimes things don't work out, but sometimes things do.”
Opening pitcher Sunil Narine achieved an unbeaten score of 81 off 39 balls, and the bowlers did their job to produce a big victory.
LSG needs to win the remaining three games to qualify for the playoffs and captain KL Rahul asserted that a win or loss will help the team.
“When we played against a batsman like Sunil and a powerful batsman, we made some mistakes. That kind of intimidation puts pressure on the bowlers. It's about going back to the dressing room and moving on.” Starting from this match, we will review where we went wrong and try to improve.
“This is our last home game so we're on the road for the next three games. It's clear that if we want to get into the top four we have to win every game and that will get us the result.” Be a little more free, go out there, be a little more fearless, be a little braver and try your game,” Rahul said.
