Ithaca – The Vassar College women’s swimming and diving team earned a total of 1,091 points and finished fourth out of 10 scoring teams with a shutout at the 2024 Liberty League Championship. Vera Rippon and Addie Weiner each took second place in Saturday's final session.
For Brewers
Weiner had a big championship game for the Brewers on Saturday, finishing second in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17 minutes, 42.49 seconds.
Warner was one of three Brewers players to score in the longest event of the tournament, with Quinn Hoagland sixth in 17:59.09 and Mariah Vietti 13th in 18:26.90.
Rippon placed second to Vassar in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing with a time of 2:05.31.
Rippon led the five Brewers who made it to the finals in the backstroke event, with Sara Quintana fifth in 2:09.83 and Vietti sixth in 2:11.16.
In the “B” final, freshman Vivien Leigh took first place with a time of 2:09.44, and Jolie Walker swam 20th place with a time of 2:13.56.
Vassar also had a strong swim in the 100-yard freestyle, leading to four athletes advancing to the finals. Abigail McLaughlin finished 12th with a time of 53.35 seconds.
Maya Luongo was 18th in 54.37 seconds, and Lily Masters and Alana Muero were 20th and 23rd in 55.06 and 55.54 seconds, respectively.
Freshman Anna Little placed fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke Saturday night with a final time of 2:26.27.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, Lara Chebotarev tied for 12th place with a time of 2:33.71, and Frances Pope took 24th place with a time of 2:39.63.
The “A” 400-yard freestyle relay team of Alejandra Robbins, Hoagland, McLaughlin, and Wiener had a strong swim, finishing fourth with a time of 3:32.03.
The 400-yard freestyle “B” team of Muero, Vietti, Luongo and Quintana finished the meet with a time of 3 minutes, 36.45 seconds.
