...DANGEROUS SNOW SQUALLS ARE POSSIBLE LATE THIS MORNING INTO THE AFTERNOON ACROSS CENTRAL NEW YORK AND NORTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA... Snow squalls are expected to develop across western NY and northwest PA late this morning and then move across all of central NY and northeast PA from late this morning into the afternoon. Snow squalls reduce visibilities to near zero at times with rapid snow accumulations and blowing snow. This will make for very dangerous travel especially on our interstates, the NY Thruway, the PA Turnpike and other highways. Expect the snow squalls to affect Steuben County NY and the Finger Lakes region to the Syracuse area between 11 am and 1 pm; this includes I-86 and I-390 west of Corning and the Thruway west of Syracuse. The snow squalls will affect the Twin Tier Region from Elmira, Binghamton, Towanda and Montrose north through the I-81, and I-88 corridor in NY to the Utica and Rome areas between 1 pm and 3 pm. The snow squalls will reach the rest of northeast PA, and the western Catskills between 3 pm and 5 pm. This includes all the interstates in northeast PA including I-81, I-80, I-84, I-380 and the northeast extension of the PA turnpike. If you are planning travel today, it is best to get off on the nearest exit or avoid travel until the squall passes. Listen to NOAA Weather Radio or your local media or social media for the latest updates on this potentially dangerous situation. Listen for possible Snow Squall Warnings.
