Orem, Utah (ABC4) โ Utah Valley University officials will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, April 9, for a new $20 million soccer-specific stadium, ushering in a new era for the university's men's and women's soccer competition.
Sponsored by Utah Community Credit Union (UCCU), the new stadium will be located west of the existing Clyde Field and will provide a “unparalleled experience” for players, fans and the community.
Once complete, the stadium will seat 3,000 fans and feature covered piazza seating, a Major League Soccer-style press box with broadcast capabilities, and 10 luxury seats. The university previously announced that the new stadium would feature improved concessions, restrooms and a team shop, as well as a student-only section.
Players will have their own locker rooms, a team lounge, and a locker room specifically created for visiting teams and officials. UVU said the stadium, once completed, will be one of the top facilities in NCAA Division I soccer.
โThis groundbreaking initiative is a testament to our vision for UVU Athletics and our partnership with UCCU,โ said Utah Valley Director of Athletics Dr. Jared Sumsion. โThe new stadium will not only strengthen our competitiveness, but will also create a vibrant hub for community interaction and support.โ
The groundbreaking ceremony will be held at a ceremony open to the public starting at 12:45 p.m. UVU officials are expected to announce construction schedules and other stadium features during the event.
