The USC Trojans are currently not a top-12 team in college football. Therefore, they are not on the College Football Playoff list before the season. Prognosticators at various news outlets need to see something substantial from the Trojans before predicting they will advance to the 12-team playoffs.
College Sports Wire has released its 12-team College Football Playoff preseason prediction set. USC was not on the list. It was Notre Dame Cathedral.
Here's Notre Dame's comments from College Sports Wire:
“After starting the season in Dublin, Ireland, the Irish won three straight games before losing in a defensive battle against Ohio State. They lost two of their next five games and missed out on a CFP berth. Mike Denbrock returns to Notre Dame after two years at LSU, winning 20 games and winning the Heisman Trophy with quarterback Jaden Daniels. “Can we keep that and give the Irish a chance in 2024?”
USC players, coaches and fans may be upset about being left out of the College Football Playoff conversation. Regardless of whether they are actually upset or not, there is one thing we can all agree on. That said, there is something USC can do about all of this. Beat LSU and instantly change the conversation in Week 1.
