“I thought the toughness of their team was good. They were also keeled. We knew they were playing good hockey, but we just didn't get the results. And they were very strong. They had a strong team concept and stuck to it.”
“And they didn't play as individuals. They played as a team and I thought they got even stronger as a team as the tournament progressed. The most pleasing thing for me was that we had a good team concept and It was selfish, and it paid off in the end.”

Barchild said of the easy wins after the past three shootout games. “This one wasn’t as close as some of the other games…close games are fun, but that was good.
“It was tough battling the ups and downs, but I managed to stay in the median and get the job done today.”

Canada defeated Finland in group play, but in the rematch Finland held Canada to a regulation 4-4 tie and won on penalty shots.
