According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, the University of Wisconsin basketball team will play a neutral-site game against Butler this season at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The game adds to a non-conference schedule that has been a challenge for the Badgers in recent years. Their 2024-25 schedule currently includes a home matchup with top-ranked Arizona, the Greenbrier Tipoff, this game against Butler and an annual rivalry showdown with Marquette.

In addition to those, the conference schedule also includes matchups against USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington. Wisconsin's recent schedule is one of the toughest in the country (third-toughest in 2023-24), and given the current direction of the sport and teams' tendency to play top teams, the schedule could get even tougher.
New on the schedule is a new meeting with longtime Ohio State head coach Thad Matta, whose Butler teams went 18-15 in his second year at the helm in 2023-24. Matta is steering the team in the right direction after years of struggle under Brad Stevens (2007-2013) and Chris Holtmann (2014-2017).

Meanwhile, Wisconsin restructured its roster this offseason in preparation for the 2024-25 season, acquiring three transfers in Central Arkansas guard Camren Hunter, Missouri guard John Tonge and Northern Illinois forward Xavier Amos. That's a good move for coach Greg Gard and his staff, considering AJ Stowe (transfer portal), Chuckie Hepburn (transfer portal) and Tyler Wahl (graduation) are all set to depart after the 2023-24 season.
The Badgers' roster looks in good shape heading into what will likely be a tough 2024-25 season.
