OU's home game against Houston on Sept. 7 will kick off at 6:45 pm central time and will air on the SEC Network, while its home game against Tulane on Sept. 14 will kick off at 2:30 pm central time and will air on ESPN or ESPN2.
The Sooners-Texas game on Oct. 12 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas will begin at 2:30 p.m. CST and will air on ABC or ESPN. Only once in the last 13 seasons has an OU-Texas game not started at 11 a.m. CST — that was in 2017, when the game started at 2:30 p.m. CST and OU won, 29-24.
In April, it was announced that the season opener between the University of Oklahoma and Temple University had been rescheduled to Friday, August 30, one day earlier than originally scheduled. The game will kick off at 6:00 pm Central Standard Time and the game will be televised on ESPN.
Oklahoma leads the series against Houston 3-1 and will face the Cougars for the first time since a 49-31 win in Norman in the 2019 season opener. The Sooners are 2-0 against Tulane and defeated the Green Wave 56-14 in 2017 and 40-35 in Norman in 2021. OU has won 11 of the last 15 meetings with Texas and 17 of the last 25. Since 1971, the Sooners are 30-21, with three ties and three losses against the Longhorns.
New this year is the schedule format for SEC games across all ESPN platforms, giving teams and fans an idea of approximate start times for the entire season, as well as a television window (i.e., “early” start time). [11 to noon CT start]”afternoon” [2:30 to 3:30 p.m. CT start] Or “night” [5 to 7 p.m. CT start]) will be announced on Tuesday, June 11 for all remaining SEC-controlled games, with some games tagged as “flex” games in either the “afternoon” or “evening” windows. SEC Now: Inside the 2024 Schedule will premiere at 1 PM on June 11 to illustrate the SEC's complete schedule. The show will re-air at 7 PM following the Paul Finebaum Show that day.
Each SEC institution will continue to play one non-conference game of their choice on the ESPN+/SEC Network+ digital platform, with the remaining games not included in today's announcement being released on June 11th.
The SEC Championship Game will be played on Saturday, December 7th, with kickoff at 3pm Central Time. The game will be broadcast on ABC for the first time since 2000.
