The competition will feature qualifying and final sessions on Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3, with qualifying starting at 10 a.m. on both days, Saturday's finals starting at 5 p.m., and Sunday's finals starting at 4 p.m. It starts at the time. Georgia will be joined in the last chance by SEC rivals Alabama, South Carolina and Vanderbilt, as well as regional institutions Miami (Fla.), North Carolina State, North Carolina State and UNC Asheville. Other competing schools include Brown University, George Washington University, Harvard University, University of Hawaii, and Pitt University.
Last Chance meets provide swimmers with one last chance to earn an NCAA Championship qualifying time or improve an existing provisional time. Fifty-one Bulldog swimmers will be entered for this weekend's meet, including many who did not compete at the SEC Championships.
Last week at Auburn, Georgia State performed well against a packed conference field, winning a total of 21 medals. The men's team placed 3rd overall with 1,042 points, and the women's team placed 5th overall with 822 points, with both teams improving in both ranking and points.Senior Jake Magahey and junior abby mccullough Magahey won the 500-yard freestyle and McCullough took first place in the mile, each earning SEC titles.
The boys team set four school records on the final day of competition. bradley dunham 200y backstroke, junior Reese Brunzell 100y freestyle and 400y freestyle relay. Overall, the Bulldogs recorded his 57 personal best times and 16 of his NCAA automatic qualifying times.
Following this weekend's competition, Georgia State will turn its attention to the NCAA Championships, starting with the Zone B Diving Championships, to be held March 10-13 at the Bauerle Pool at Gabrielsen Natatorium. Georgia will host the NCAA Women's Championship from March 20-23, followed by the Men's Championship in Indianapolis from March 27-30.
