Mark Pope has taken the reins of the Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball program, and the new coaching staff is once again reaching out to some of the nation's best players.
Among them is AJ DiVanza, one of the top prospects in high school basketball.
Divantha is the consensus No. 1 recruit. The 6-foot-9 forward has been scouted by every school in the country, and coach Mark Pope has made it clear that the player considered a generational talent is a perfect fit for the University of Kentucky.
“He's talking to me about what's going to happen while keeping Kentucky as a top team,” Divanza told Kentucky Sports Radio. “And he said he thought I was the right person.”
Divantha also told KSR that he is considering visiting Kentucky this fall.
The 6-foot-9 forward has dominated the Nike U17 circuit, averaging nearly 24 points, nearly six rebounds and two assists per game.
This should go without saying, but if Kentucky lands Divantha, it will be Large scale Kentucky win. Players like Divansa don't come along very often, but he is one of those players who has the ability to make an immediate difference at the collegiate level.
