Tyryn Rogers and Diesel Gordon were both charged with assault. Rogers is currently on trial for allegedly raping two women.
SEATTLE โ Two University of Washington football players have been charged after allegedly attacking a bicyclist in Seattle.
This happened just weeks after one of these players was charged with raping two women.
According to court documents, both players Tylin “Taibo” Tamis Rodgers and Diesel Gordon are facing misdemeanor assault charges.
The attack occurred shortly after noon on March 11th.
According to a Seattle police report, the bicyclist told investigators that he was riding through the University District when two people in a car behind him began yelling at him to pull over to the sidewalk.
The cyclist told police he flipped the bike over and spat at the driver. The driver then tried to hit him.
The victim told police he tried to run away but was found a short time later.
The players are accused of pushing and hitting the victim, breaking parts of his bike and spitting in his face at least eight times.
According to the victim, the suspects continued to harass the pedestrian until the pedestrian approached and attempted to intervene.
The teammate was able to be identified because the attack was captured on surveillance video and because both men were wearing UW Athletics-branded clothing, according to a police report.
According to the university, both players are currently suspended from the team.
Rogers, 18, is also charged with second- and third-degree rape. He pleaded not guilty Thursday in King County Superior Court and his next court appearance is May 21.
