St. Patrick's Athletic, the Dublin soccer team, announced that a group including two Super Bowl champions and a U.S. ice hockey player have joined as “strategic investors.”
The League of Ireland club says the undisclosed investment could help facilitate the club's expansion across the Atlantic.
Kenosis Sports Group includes Cleveland Browns star Joe Flacco and his former Baltimore Ravens teammate Matt Burke. The two won Super Bowl XLVI 11 years ago with the Ravens, defeating the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 in Louisiana.
Flacco also played for the Denver Broncos, New York Jets, and Philadelphia Eagles, while Burke began his NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings, where he played with fellow team member Chad Greenway.
Anders Lee is a 33-year-old New York Islander and American ice hockey star.
The Saints will travel to Minnesota later this month to face MLS's Minnesota United in a friendly on March 20th.
Garrett Kelleher, Chairman of the Pats, said, “Kenosis and Kenosis are strategic investors in St. Patrick's Athletic, including Joe Flacco, Chad Greenway, Matt Burke and Anders Lee, among others. We are delighted to welcome the sports group.”
“Joe, Chad, Matt and Anders have had successful careers in the NFL and NHL and have a strong interest in football.
“We are working with KSG, a subsidiary of Kenosis Capital, to prepare for the game against Minnesota United on March 20th, and we believe this will be the first step in St. Patrick's Athletic's expansion into the United States. ing.”
