Vero Beach's trip to the state capital ended in the state quarterfinal round against this year's No. 1 team. The Indians lost 3-1 to St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday at the Florida State University beach volleyball courts in Tallahassee.
The Raiders, the No. 4 seed in the state bracket, defeated No. 5 Vero Beach by a 4-1 margin exactly one month ago on April 11.

The Indians' only win on Saturday came from the No. 2 duo of Ella Minton and Ara Sanchez in a 2-0 win. But St. Lucy Aquinas finished off her opponent with a sweep in the third, fourth, and fifth pairs.
The previous day, Vero Beach advanced with a 3-0 win over Winter Haven. There, Minton and Sanchez won, as did the No. 1 duo of Eva Lilliquist and Cora Darling and the No. 4 pair of Marley Massey and Kayleigh Becton.
Vero Beach finished the season with 18 wins out of 20 games.

Region 3-7A Semifinals
2nd Vero Beach (23-4) 15, 6th Wellington 0(F/4): A nine-run outburst in the bottom of the first inning propelled the Indians to the regional finals. Against the Wolverines, he scored one point in the second and five more in the third.
Vero Beach had 11 hits among eight players, with Chase Wilson, Caleb Wood and Jordan Thomas each recording a hit. The trio also had 10 RBIs, with Wilson adding 5 RBIs, Wood 3 RBIs and Thomas 2 RBIs. Wilson and Wood each had a double.
Elsewhere, Jace Romance went 1-for-1 with a double, two walks, two RBIs and three runs scored. Finley also scored three runs with a hit and a stolen base.
Meanwhile, the Wolverines' bats were shut down by Sebastian Dimitroff. The sophomore pitched four shutout innings, allowing one hit, one walk, and four strikeouts.
The Indians will be playing in their first regional final since 2019 and will be looking to advance to the Final Four for the first time since 2003. They will play at home in No. 4 Harmony on Monday at 7 p.m.

Region 4-5A Quarterfinals
No. 7 Pembroke Pines Charter 6, No. 2 South Fork 2: The Bulldogs' hopes of repeating as region champions ended with a loss at home to the Jaguars in the quarterfinal round.
After Pembroke Pines Charter scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning for a 4-0 win, South Fork scored two runs in the bottom of the frame to close the gap. The visiting team responded immediately by scoring two more runs in the sixth inning.
The Bulldogs, who attracted attention by winning the district title, finished the season with a record of 12 wins and 7 losses.
3rd place Sebring (14-8) 12, 6th place Sebastian River (13-14) 1 (F/5): The Sharks lost on the road to the Blue Streaks, giving up seven runs in the first inning, but were limited to five hits and the season ended.
Jazmyn Hunt, who contributed a triple, became one of five players on the visiting team to record a hit. She scored on Keira Carlow's RBI single in the fourth inning.
Sebastian River lost four of its last five games, finishing with a record of 13 wins and 14 losses. The team lost its last three games by a combined score of 32-4.
Region 3-7A
No. 3 St. Lucie West Centennial (20-7) 15, No. 6 Harmony (11-11) 0: The Eagles defeated the Longhorns at home to reach the 20-win mark.
Centennial was held scoreless through the first two innings, but hit an avalanche in the third and crossed home plate in the 11th. The host team finished the match with the fourth goal.
Haley Brereton and Jaelyn Cook each hit a home run for the Eagles. Cook had two walks, three runs scored, and five RBIs. Brereton finished the cycle three innings short and finished with four RBIs and three runs scored. Each player recorded a stolen base.
Brereton also took the mound as a pitcher, and the junior pitcher pitched a perfect game in the district quarterfinals for the second year in a row. He threw 50 possessions, and the junior recorded all 12 outs with strikeouts.
Elsewhere, Myrna Pratt went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Keihara Alleyne and Carmella Baker each had a double and had two hits each.
Centennial will play in the regional semifinals at No. 2 Palm Beach Gardens on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
