The Storm Lake Tornadoes girls soccer team lost 3-1 to the Kuemper Catholic Knights.
The Tornadoes and Knights played strong defense for the first 10 minutes of the game, with neither team able to resolve the other's offense. That changed when the Knights took the lead on Sierra Pudenz's fifth goal of the season, making the game 1-0. Six minutes later, the Knights scored again on Ashlyn Foley's second goal of the season, giving the Knights a 2-0 lead. Both teams then tightened their defense again, and the Knights led 2-0 by the halftime break.
The Tornadoes got off to a strong start after Spring Jezebel Oseguda's goal cut the lead to 2-1 just 19 seconds into the second half. This was Oseguda's second goal of the season.
But the Knights would get an answer when Pudenz scored his second goal of the game (and sixth of the season) to give the Knights a 3-1 lead. Both teams had chances with 27 minutes remaining, but neither scored and the Knights won 3-1.
The win improves the Knights to 3-4, and the Knights will next face Carroll on Monday night. The Tornadoes fell to 1-4 after the loss, but will return to action Monday night when they host Le Mars.
