Auburn, Alabama – Auburn has signed JP Peggs (pronounced PUH-geez), one of the top transfer guards in the country who was named first team All-Southern Conference.
The 6-foot-2, 165-pound point guard from Nashville, Tennessee, played the past three seasons at Furman, averaging 18.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game as a junior. Peggs was the Paladins' leading scorer and top playmaker with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.32 (144 assists to 62 turnovers). He was also third on the team in stolen bases (35 stolen bases).
The Pegs shot 42 percent from the field and 36.2 percent from 3-point range. He scored a season-high 35 points against Western Carolina on Feb. 28, one of 15 games last season in which Pegs scored 20 or more points.
