Three YAIAA athletes have been named to the Pennsylvania girls basketball all-state team, as determined by sports reporters from around the state.
All three played in competitive Division II. All three were league and GameTimePA All-Stars.
In Class 5A, West York's Faith Walker was named to the second team and York Suburban's Janae Rismiller was named to the third team. Eastern York's Arianna Seitz was named to the Class 4A second team.
Nearly 100 sportswriters from around the state participated in the process.
Seitz, a two-time YAIAA Division II Player of the Year, led the league in scoring with 20.1 points per game despite being double- and triple-teamed in every game. She accounted for over 40% of her scoring and was the only player on the Golden Knights' team to average double-digit points and advance to the state tournament. The 5-foot-11 Seitz is a pure shooting guard who reached the 1,000-point milestone earlier in the season. She scored at least 20 points in her 14 games, and her highest score was her 32 points. Seitz will continue his basketball career at Clarion University.
Walker announced his commitment to play for Division I Duquesne before the season began, and played his senior season like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. The 6-1 forward increased his average by nearly seven points per game, contributing over 18.2 points per game. She also added an uplifting element to the game for her teammates, leading the Bulldogs to the state playoffs. She appeared to have played her best game in her biggest contest, reaching her 1,000th career point in a district playoff win over Mechanicsburg. Walker scored at least 20 points in 13 games, including a league-high 33 points in her District 3 quarterfinal win.
Rhys Miller, GameTimePA's Player of the Year, led the Trojans to their first District 3 girls basketball title in program history. The 5-7 senior point guard led the team with just over 12 points per game. She could have scored a higher point total, but often fed off her better-looking teammates. She was skilled at taking 3-point shots and combining low down with big players, as was Rhys Miller, who plays at the University of Mary Washington. And don't lose sight of her in her defense either. That's because she is known for picking players cleanly and going in different directions for easy scores.
