Tennessee basketball players and Rick Barnes have been recruiting transfers since four Vols entered the portal, and four more are leaving for graduation. This leaves only one starter left on the roster if all transfers go well and he leaves Rocky Top.
Hofstra transfer Darling Stone Duver committed to Tennessee on Monday after visiting campus on Saturday and enjoying the festivities at the Orange and White football game. Barnes and his guys aren't done with the portal and will continue to target other players to fill out their roster.
The next player Coach Burns is looking to bring to Rocky Top is Charlotte native Igor Milicic Jr. The 49ers transfer forward started his career at the University of Virginia and spent two years at the University of Charlotte before looking to transfer to his third school in four years.
Reported by CBS Sports reporter Jon Rothstein. Milicic has narrowed down his transfer decision and has narrowed it down to three teams. The Vols are in the top three transfer forwards, along with Nebraska and Baylor.
The 6-foot-10, 225-pound forward from Croatia still has two years of eligibility left. He averaged 12.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game and led the team in 3-pointers with 56 made last season.
He's not going to bring an elite defensive presence to Knoxville right away, but he matches the same type of players Barnes has been recruiting through the portal. He's shot 47.6 percent from the field and 35.8 percent from three in his career, pretty impressive numbers for a guy who's about 7 feet tall.
Milicic can score all over the court. He is versatile and can play at the five, stretch four, or around the three-point line. He can fill virtually any role on the court, wherever Barnes and the Vols need him. Duver's ability to play all over the court, combined with his versatility, could be a game-changer for the Vols next season.
The college basketball transfer portal will remain open through the end of April. Students must declare their intention to transfer by April 30th for undergraduate transfers and by May 1st for graduate transfers. Stay on top of all things Tennessee basketball with our Transfer Portal tracker.
