The quake was the strongest to hit the island in 25 years, according to AFP news agency, and authorities warned of more tremors to come. Taiwanese authorities said the quake was the strongest since a magnitude 7.6 quake that struck the country in 1999, killing 2,400 people.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed sadness over the loss of life in the Taiwan earthquake and expressed solidarity with India's “resilient” people.
