If you've been following the trials and tribulations of Syracuse football's offseason, you know that the franchise is in full swing and a new staff is shaking hands with bringing in players from all over the country…but also from New Jersey. In doing so, the staff here at TNIAAM realized that, until recently, the University of Orange had significantly exceeded its proposed 85 scholarship slots, the maximum allowed by the NCAA.
We've been talking at length about the players coming in little by little, which are listed at the bottom of the page, but we had a number of players leave during the offseason. We maintain a constantly updated roster spreadsheet that certifies retirees in several different ways.

Spring departure:
Meanwhile, staff is still churning out commitments, including several projects for early 2025, which is also unprecedented in these regions. They have more arrivals than departures that we know of, with 86 scholarship players remaining in our latest tracker. This is one more than allowed.
The following are on the spring roster or will be attending fall camp. If listed, he is a transfer; if not listed, he is a 2024 freshman.

Fall roster:
Overall, there's more roster turnover than we've seen in a long time. We will see in the future whether this number will change at all, but at the moment, 39 players join the team between recruitment and transfer, while 30 players leave while still eligible. , which is an unprecedented roster change for these parts.
It wouldn't be a shock if we see more roster movement out of spring ball as the depth chart starts to take shape and people evaluate their place on the team. The spring transfer window will be open from April 15th to 30th, and players will be able to put their names in the portal. This coincides with the end of spring training, so players who feel they need to be transferred will be able to do so at that point.
The spring game is scheduled for April 20th at 7pm ET at JMA Dome and will be televised on the ACC Network.
