The swimming pool feasibility study officially kicked off with the first public meeting held Wednesday at the Cañon City Middle School auditorium. Just over 60 people attended to learn about potential alternatives to the RC Ichabone Swimming Pool. This study aims to provide transparency into pool projects. It reveals what the community wants from the facility, how much it will cost to build and operate, where it will be located, and how it will be financed.
A feasibility study focused solely on aquatic facilities has never been conducted in this community.
At the meeting, a website was launched to provide information about the project to the community. Websites serve multiple purposes. Includes up-to-date information on research steps and potential pool options. Over the next two months, we will be holding multiple surveys to gather input from our community. Citizens have the opportunity to ask questions and answers will be provided. This website provides factual information regarding feasibility studies. The web address is https://engage.counsilmanhunsaker.com/ccrd-pool-study.
The next public meeting with the consultants will be held online only on the City of Cañon's Zoom account on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., and will be streamed on Facebook through both the city and the Cañon City Regional Recreation and Park District. The meeting will include a question and answer session following the presentation. The community is encouraged to participate online. The Zoom meeting link is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85952161355.
