After watching the South Hills Memorial Day Parade, Matt and Michelle Owens headed to Dormont Pool with their sons, Blake and Hayes, to continue their fun holiday weekend.
The summer solstice falls on June 20, but many area residents aren't waiting to beat the heat, instead popping into local watering holes to cool off from the unseasonably warm weather.
Matt and Michelle Owens got an early start to the season of sun and fun by taking their two sons, Blake and Hayes, to Dormont Pool on opening day, May 25th.
“It was so hot, it was refreshing,” Michelle Owens said of the unheated facility. “It was so warm, it felt good.”
“It's a lovely pool,” Matt Owens added. “It's great for families.”
The Owens bought season passes so they can get in 15 minutes early on the weekends, “so we can get a good spot,” Matt said.
But the rate of $8 per person per day is affordable for a family of four, he added.
In addition to slides, there are crafts for children and a shop.
Dormont Pool is open from noon to 7:30 PM on weekdays and until 8 PM on weekends, through September 2. The pool is closed on the first Monday of each month.
For more information about the facility, visit boro.dormont.pa.us/dormont-pool. The address is 1801 Dormont Ave.
