Registration for summer swim lessons is available at the Sedona Community Pool, 570 Posse Ground Road, through the Sedona Parks and Recreation Department. The pool will open on Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 25th, and close for the season on Labor Day.
Swimming and track and field director Carmen Brasher is hopeful that with stable lifeguard staffing, this season will run more smoothly.
“We've had a pretty significant increase in lifeguard base pay, but we also implemented a $1,500 bonus last year that we were able to get back this summer,” Brashear said. “They have to work 260 hours over the summer, 24 of those hours during August, and we need to incentivize them to have enough lifeguards throughout August. ”
The department's $35 summer youth swim lessons will be offered in three sessions: June 4-14, June 18-28, and July 9-19. Lessons are held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and start from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lessons are open to all ages and skill levels. Participating children undergo a skills assessment on the first day of lessons to determine their proficiency level and are placed in the appropriate class with one of her seven to eight instructors.
“Private swimming lessons are available during public swimming hours during the summer,” the department's website states. “Private swim lessons with a Starfish Certified Swim Instructor are 30 minutes each and cost $15. For more information, please contact the pool at (928) 203-5096.”
Parks and Recreation has hired more instructors to facilitate its StarTots and StarBabies programs. These $5 instructional sessions introduce babies and toddlers to water activities and teach parents and other caregivers how to help children roll over, swim, float, and move underwater. Teach. The program will be held on Saturdays from June 15th to July 27th from 10:45am to 11:15am. This program only accepts same-day registration.
Aqua Fitness and Aqua Zumba classes will resume in 2024 starting Tuesday, June 4th.
Cost is $5 per class or $40 for 10 classes, and classes are held Tuesday through Friday from 10:05 a.m. to 10:55 a.m.

The pool is closed on Mondays and open for recreational swimmers Tuesday through Friday from 1:00pm to 5:15pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30am to 7:00pm. Lap swims take place Tuesday through Friday from 9am to 10am and 11:45am to 12:45pm, Saturday from 9am to 10:30am, and Sunday from 9am to 11:15pm. I will.
Children ages 2 and under are admitted free. Admission is $2 for ages 3 to 17, $3 for adults 18 to 54, and $2 for seniors 55 and older.
