The East Union boys volleyball team had a chance to extend nonleague play Tuesday in Lathrop, but fell short, losing four games 20-25, 26-24, 17-25, 24.26.
The visiting Lancers (1-2) were led by Jay Aquino's 12 kills and two blocks. Setter Rodolfo Rocha had 21 assists, three kills and two aces.
Guadalupe Reyes contributed offensively with seven kills, and Noah Holdren had five kills and four blocks.
East Union will look to bounce back against El Capitan on Thursday against Merced, before Lathrop (1-1) hosts Manteca on the same night.

After starting the season by splitting the battle between the two pitchers, the Buffaloes (2-1) started moving the bats on Tuesday at Galt.
In the final two innings, he allowed a total of 12 hits and scored six runs, winning the game. Jayana Diaz led the way with three hits and two RBIs.
Mareia Garza (double, 4 RBIs), Chloe Martin (3 RBIs, stolen bases), and Lauren Moncada (2 RBIs, RBIs, stolen bases) all went 2-for-3, and Sienna Lowry had three RBIs.
Isabel Tonna was the winning pitcher in 6 innings, allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 8 hits and 2 walks. She also struck out three batters. Riley Ward pitched the final inning.

Ripon 4, Linden 1
Sahaj Gill highlighted the men's only non-league match by defeating Raul Zepeda 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles contest. Gill fought back from a 3-4 deficit in the first set and dominated the rest.
The Indians had another win in singles as Levi Landrigan defeated Parker Buzo 6-2, 6-0.
Ripon won the two doubles matches. The winning tandems were Gideon Waters/Tate Douglas (6-1, 6-2) and freshmen Santiago Avendano Avila/Matthew Tarakan (6-1, 6-3).

In a game packed with a lot of offense, Audrey Flores made some clutch plays on defense to help keep the Buffaloes' lead.
