Birmingham Stallions running back Bo Scarborough is retiring from football. Bama Standard Network said through its X account. on friday.
The Bama Standard Network includes a podcast that features Scarborough as one of its contributors, along with Steve Brown, Marvin Constant, Justin Riley, and Stephen M. Smith.
On Friday night, Scarborough shared social media messages on his Instagram account celebrating his retirement, including one from his mother.
“Our brother and Alabama legend Bo Scarborough has officially retired from football.” Reading Bama Standard Network messages. “Congratulations Beau, well done! We are so proud of you! May God bless you immeasurably on the next chapter of your journey!”
Scarborough appeared in the Stallions' season opener in 2023, but a knee injury sidelined him for the rest of the season.
When asked about Scarborough as Birmingham opened UFL training camp last week, Stallions coach Skip Holtz said on Feb. 28: “Bo's still trying to recover a little bit from his knee. Bo's had a few surgeries on that knee. He ran around. Yesterday he looked fine. But at this point, I probably don't know how hard he can go every day. It's going to be a process that I don't know about.”
Scarborough prepped at Northridge in Tuscaloosa before spending his final high school season at IMG Academy in Florida.
Scarborough played on two CFP national championship teams during his three seasons at Alabama. With the Crimson Tide, he ran for 1,512 yards and 20 touchdowns on 267 carries and caught 21 passes for 131 yards.
Scarborough's best game at Alabama was a 24-7 win over Washington in the Peach Bowl on December 31, 2016. Scarborough ran for 180 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries against the Huskies.
With this victory, the Crimson Tide qualified for the CFP National Championship for the 2016 season. Scarborough scored his first two touchdowns on runs of 25 and 37 yards en route to 93 yards on 16 carries, but Alabama lost 35-31 to Clemson on January 9, 2017. Ta.
Scarborough was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He also was on the rosters of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions, and Las Vegas Raiders. In seven NFL regular season games, Scarborough rushed for 408 yards and one touchdown on 95 carries.
Scarborough joined the Stallions in Game 5 of the 2022 season and finished 10th in the league in rushing with 352 yards and one touchdown on 84 carries despite appearing in just six regular season games. Ta.
In Birmingham's 33-30 victory over the Philadelphia Stars in the USFL Championship Game on July 3, 2022, Scarborough had 13 rushing attempts for 135 yards and one touchdown.
