St. Clair County Community College recently announced that it will add men's soccer to its physical education curriculum starting in the 2024-2025 school year.
This will make SC4 one of seven community colleges in Michigan offering men's soccer, according to university officials. The Skippers will compete in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association along with Grand Rapids, Jackson, Lake Michigan, Marian University's Ancilla College, Muskegon and Schoolcraft.
“We are pleased to announce the addition of men's soccer to our athletic department,” SC4 Athletic Director Dale Voss said in a press release. “As our women's soccer program continues to grow, we believe our new men's program will be a great opportunity for those who want to play at the collegiate level. We look forward to welcoming you.”
The team will play at the Skippers Soccer Fields at Morton Park, located along the St. Clair River at 560 Busha Highway in Marysville. The complex opened in his 2021 year and features a collegiate synthetic turf surface that is 75 yards wide and 120 yards long. The facility also includes a 25-yard by 35-yard Skippers skills field and a four-lane training track.
The selection of a head coach and assistant coach is currently underway. Candidates can apply online at sc4.edu/jobs.
Students interested in joining the men's soccer team are encouraged to call the SC4 Athletic Department at 810-989-5662 to be added to the recruiting list.
