The Telesis beach volleyball team earned two state qualifiers in one flight again this year and hopes to qualify for more.
“Our goal is for our No. 1 flight pair of Karma Daigle and Madi Wine to advance to state again in the pairs competition on May 2nd and then as a team in the team competition on April 30th. It’s about showing up,” coach Dan Cucci said. . “At the end of the day, we just try to work on fundamentals, mechanics, conditioning and most importantly have fun here every week.”
There are several games that the team and Cucchi are looking forward to, including one at home.
“Senior night is always great because it's the last home night for Maddie to play here. I know we're looking forward to it. But overall, we look forward to each tournament. '' said Cucci. “We always play against the Red Rocks in Verde Valley, and it's a beautiful genre to play in. Also, home games. I'm very excited to see the opportunity to play here on the river.”
The CAA (Canyon Athletic Association) has a total of 10 teams that play beach volleyball, two of which are from the same school.
“There are only 10 teams on the beach. The top eight flights of women will advance to the pairs competition, and the top eight teams will compete,” Cucci said. “James Madison actually has two teams. They are divided into Team 1 and Team 2. So technically there are 9 teams, but because we have two teams we have 10, which is one more than last year. We'll be a team.”
The Tigers will open their season at home against Ville de Marie on March 11th at 4:30pm at Rotary Park Court.
