UNICEF US Sports Partnership: Harnessing the unifying power of sport to highlight global issues facing children today
Sport plays an important role in UNICEF's work. On the ground, sport is an important tool in fostering community engagement, teaching children teamwork and inclusion, creating safe spaces, and fostering holistic childhood development. In the United States, we harness the unifying power of sports to highlight global issues facing children today.
The UNICEF U.S. Sports Partnership is a partnership between U.S.-based leagues, teams, and individuals who champion and raise funds for UNICEF's mission to save children's lives, protect their rights, and help them realize their potential. It is made up of a strong network of athletes.
For example, Jeremy Lin has been a vocal advocate for promoting and protecting the mental health of young people and for equitable distribution of vaccines to defeat COVID-19. The partnership between WWE and UNICEF USA helps empower children to help other children and shows how these partnerships can be tools for social good.
We are extremely grateful for our continued work with MLB, MLS, NBA, NFL and WWE, as well as our direct partnerships with athletes, teams and leagues, including the LPGA and PGA. Together, we will share compelling stories across channels and platforms of the work we are doing in partnership with UNICEF to support children, and the importance of putting children first. It brings fans together.
