Prosecutors had asked for a sentence of four years and nine months in prison for the coach, who failed to declare his income of 1 million euros.
Spanish prosecutors have asked Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti to serve four years and nine months in prison for allegedly failing to declare his income to the tax office.
Prosecutors said in a statement on Wednesday that Ancelotti was charged with two counts of tax evasion worth 1 million euros (approximately 1.1 billion yen).
The Madrid regional public prosecutor's office has accused the 64-year-old Italian of depriving Spain's Treasury of undeclared income from image rights in 2014 and 2015.
They accuse him of setting up a “confusing” system of shell companies to hide his excess income.
A Spanish court ordered Ancelotti to stand trial in the case in July, but no date has been set.
Ancelotti managed Madrid from 2013 to 2015 before returning to the club in 2021.
Ancelotti is one of the most successful managers in football. He is the only manager to win the Champions League four times (twice with Madrid and twice with AC Milan) and the only manager to win domestic league titles in England, Spain, Italy, Germany and France.
Spain is cracking down on top soccer players who don't pay their salaries.
Former Madrid manager Jose Mourinho pleaded guilty to tax evasion in 2019 and was given a one-year suspended sentence. In Spain, star players Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have also been convicted of tax evasion.
