Hammond, Louisiana – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team will travel to Thibodaux, Louisiana, Saturday morning to play two games to qualify for the Nichols Beach Tournament.
The Lady Lions (1-3) will face conference rival New Orleans (2-2) at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, before returning to the sand to face Mary Hardin-Baylor (2-2) at 1:30 p.m. 5 wins, 2 losses). Concluding the tournament.
SLU entered the opening day empty-handed against the Tulane Green Wave and North Alabama. Southeastern University rallied with a close 2-3 decision against Power 5 opponent Oregon State on the second day, then picked up its first win with a resounding 4-1 victory over Spring Hill University. The Lady Lions have already been tested against high-level teams and are looking to extend their winning streak.
Southeastern top pair andrea da silva and Rachel Hartman A 3-1 win last weekend made the Lady Lions more competitive. The pair defeated home team Tulane and Spring Hill University in a down-to-wire three-set match, then defeated the University of Oregon with a commanding two-set advantage. 2nd grade Mia McKinney and a new student Mia Sauers They also had two wins as the No. 2 pair against Oregon and Spring Hill, with both matches ending in two sets.
After Saturday's game, the Lady Lions will return home to host the first-ever Southeastern Invitational in program history starting March 8. Southeastern will play Central Arkansas on Saturday at 1 p.m., then return to face McNeese at 5 p.m. SLU begins Day 2 against Texas. A&M-Kingsville will be played March 9 at 1 p.m., followed by a rematch with Spring Hill College to close out the tournament at 5 p.m.
