Michael Vaughan's son Archie will represent Somerset until 2026 when his two-year contract expires.
Archie Vaughan, son of former England captain Michael Vaughan Two-year contract with SomersetThis will be Archie's first professional contract and, unlike his father Michael, the 18-year-old is a top-order batsman and a capable off-spinner and will represent Somerset.
Archie will join a long list of children of former England players who play for the county, including Lockie Flintoff, Josh de Caires and Haydon Mustard.

Lockie made headlines a few weeks ago when he smashed an incredible hundred for Lancashire's second XI, with his playing style closely resembling that of his father Andrew. Archie made his debut for the second XI in 2022 and impressed the selectors by scoring 35 off 28 balls in the Abu Dhabi T20 Counties Super Cup against Yorkshire.
“This is something I've worked hard for and it's something I've aimed for since I was a kid so it's an honour to get the opportunity at a club I've really enjoyed over the last few years,” Archie told Somerset's club website.
“I'm looking to gain as much experience as I can and learn as much as I can from the more experienced guys in the locker room.”
Meanwhile, Somerset's director of cricket Andy Harry also praised the youngster, saying the 18-year-old has a “bright future”.
“Archie is a young man with a bright future ahead of him. Since joining the Academy he has worked incredibly hard and demonstrated a genuine desire to improve in all aspects of his game,” Harry said.
“His hard work and strong performances on the field led to him earning himself an opportunity to play for the second team, where he thrived.”
