March 26 (Reuters) – French Lost 2-0 Forward Kylian Mbappe said Germany's comments were a warning heading into the European Championship and they will need to respond in Tuesday's friendly against Chile.
Germany won against Lyon on Saturday, with Florian Wirtz scoring a goal seven seconds into the game and Kai Havertz scoring early in the second half to cut their lead to two points.
Mbappé told reporters on Monday: “We have to realize that if we play like this in future games, it could be a huge disappointment and we don't want that to happen. No,” he said.
Asked if the defeat had dampened France's ambitions for the Euros, Mbappé said: “I never meant to say that if we had beaten Germany 5-0 we would have easily won the Euros.”
“So just because we lost, it’s not like I’m telling myself that I’m going to be overtaken.
“This is a warning. Of course it was not a good match. Now we are not going to throw away what we have done so far, the qualifying campaign, the last competition we played and all the matches that we managed to achieve.” “
Paris Saint-Germain forward Mbappé said he expected hostility from Olympique de Marseille fans while playing for his national team, with Chile currently playing for France at the Stade Velodrome.
“If I get booed, that's life. I don't take it personally and it doesn't change the way I play,” he added. “But I'll be pleasantly surprised if I don't get booed.”
