Skyland Conference Season Review, 2023-24
player of the year
Nolan Collison, Hillsboro
There's not much to say about Nolan Collison's career at Hillsboro. During his four-year career, Collison scored 225 career points, breaking Hillsboro's all-time scoring record and scoring 111 goals. His senior season was one to remember, as he totaled 50 goals and 90 points. He has scored nine hat-tricks this season, but only scored one point in three games.
Coach of the Year
Vincent Arnone, Bridgewater Raritan
It's been a while since Bridgewater Raritan was a featured team in the Skylands, but this year they've proven that they're returning to that status. The 15-8 record is their best record in years, and the Panthers have given up points this year against Skyland's historic top teams, primarily Hunterdon Central, Hillsboro and Ridge. Highlights of the season included a 5-2 win over Hillsboro on Feb. 7 and a 3-2 win over Cranford in the first round of the Public State Bracket.
team of the year
Pingree
At the beginning of the season, Pingree struggled to score goals and looked like a team that would have to rely on defense to keep games low-scoring, which is a dangerous way to live. But as the calendar turned to his 2024, Big Blue looked like a different team, an offensive juggernaut that rode the wave to Skyland's third straight Cup victory. Not only that, but they upset Seton Hall Prep in the first round in the non-public state tournament. From January 2 to February 20, Pingree scored over three goals per game.
